Mersey Road Open Class Speedball Tournament

High winds and cool temperatures greeted the competitors for the season ending outdoor open class three man speedball tournament that was held at Mersey Road Paintball on October 21, 2006. Fredericton GT winners Team Apocalypse from South Shore Paintball did a stellar job as hosts and referees for the event and set up a field that put a premium on speed and mobility rather then pure volume of fire.

In preparation for playing five man and x-ball events in 2007 the Tippinators entered an all rookie team into this Open Class tournament with the intention of giving the team's newest players some valuable experience against some of the best paintballers in the region. This was the first ever tournament for Trevor 'Awkes' Colwell and Steven 'Fong' Fong with first year rookie player Josh 'Fireball' Boiduk rounding out the playing roster and Scott 'Hired Gun' Knowles in attendance as a spare.

The friendly day long event was accented by great sportsmanship and intense competition from all teams. When the dust had settled the Tippinators came away with a sixth place finish but more importantly a wealth of experience for the team's rookie players.
