Friday April 14th marked the 20th year Mersey Road Paintball in East River, Nova Scotia has launched the Eastern Canadian paintball season, with the annual Black Friday woodsball game.
Players from across the region came together for what many consider to be the unofficial start to the paintball season. Field owner Jim Langlois is amazed the game has carried on for 20 years.

Where Did All the Speedballers Go?
By: Kevin Curry
What happened to the game we
love? In 2007 there were ten speedball fields in Atlantic Canada. Today there
are only four. Of those four with only three fields are being used regularly.
With regards to one genre of our sport, speedball, how did over a fifty percent
of our available fields happen?
The answer is simple: player decline.

Paintball Is Dying, It's Your Fault!
The Future of Paintball?
When I started playing paintball the
choice of markers was vast for players. You could use a Splatmaster or a PPG.
No foolin' there were two choices. Both of these markers took a 10 ball tube of
paint, that if you were lucky, you could get on sale for two for $5.00. To put
that amount in perspective, $2.50 per tube in 1980's is equivalent to $1000 per
box in 2017 dollars.
I know what you are thinking, “Oh
great! Another old guys telling us how good we have it.” Well yes, and no. We
as players have never had so many options when it comes to the game we love. I
mention 'back in the day' because I have seen paintball come from nothing to
become a massive global industry and recognized sport.

Phases of Life for a Paintballer
I remember when I first started going to the paintball field. The range of people and styles of dress made no sense. There were guys in white t-shirts playing next to guys with trees sticking out of their hats, next to guys in bright matching gear.
I can see how a newcomer to the sport can be confused, overwhelmed and intimidated by everything that goes on in the staging area during typical day at the field. With the start of a new paintball season I thought I would try to make some sense of the organized chaos.

Paintball Tipps Episode III - Bounding Overwatch
This episode of Paintball Tipps
talks about the basic team tactic of the Bounding Overwatch. No matter what you
try on the field there is one skill you must completely master before you can
take your game to the next level. One skill more than any other will make you
the master of woodsball or tourneyball - the "Bounding Overwatch".
This is the third video in the Paintball Tipps series that we created to both educate new players, as well as, entertain the more experienced.

Paintball Tipps Episode II - Safety
The Tippinators are pleased to announce the release of the second video in the Paintball Tipps series. This latest video focuses on the safety and how easy it is to keep the game safe for everyone.
This episode was inspired by an email we received from a viewer. "We received an email from a viewer asking about safety." said Tippinator Bruce 'Charon' Johnston. "Safety is so integral to everything we do as players that we had to produce a safety video."

Paintball Tipps - Episode I
The Tippinators have been thinking about doing it for a while, and we were finally able to produce our first animated instructional video.
The video is called "Paintball Tipps - Fire and Move the Key to Winning Paintball". We hope this will be the first in a series of videos that are designed to help new players learn the game while entertaining more experienced players.
Experienced players are asked for advice by new players all the time. Rather then passing on tips to players one by one as we have been for years, these videos let us answer the most frequently asked questions to everyone at once.

'Crossover XVR' Review
'Crossover XVR' Integrates Player Recommended Upgrades
Tippmann expands on Crossover platform thanks to feedback from players
Tippmann introduces the XVR, an enhanced version of the hugely successful Crossover marker. Launched last year, the Crossover appeals more to woodsball players seeking a marker offering the ability to ‘crossover’ into tournament-style play. The new XVR takes Tippmann performance to a new level.
The marker was developed based on feedback and suggestions secured by the company from speedball players worldwide. The result is a marker specifically designed to deliver during tournament-style play but still tough enough for woodsball.
