Heavy mist and constant drizzle greeted the players
attending the second Golden Triangle speedball event of 2007
held June 23 at Atlantic Xtreme Paintball in Moncton New
Brunswick. The 17 teams in attendance were happy with the improved
forecast on game day after heavy rain that had saturated the
region over the previous two days.
This
stop on the Atlantic GT series was open class only, with a
mix of first time tourney teams to professional members of AXBL
franchises playing. AXBL players from Fredericton Aggression,
Dieppe Aces and Eights and Grand Falls Under Dawgz used the GT
to familiarize themselves with the field for the AXBL event
scheduled for the next day.
The rain created a slick
playing surface and mud making the footing treacherous but also made for
incredible slides all over the field. Steven Fong of the
Tippinators SpecOps line found sliding easier then normal, "It
was really easy to slide, the problem was stopping. A couple
of times I watched as the bunker I was heading for went past
and I was still going." Fong recounted one such slide, "I was
moving up the field and dove for the X box on my 40, the next thing I
knew I was under the middle of the center X with paint coming
at me from two sides."
